I am self taught with over 30 years experience which means I am not tied to fixed ideas, and pride myself on being friendly, helpful and approachable.  I am also a very good listener (pardon?), and I am more than happy to be guided on the memories you would like me to capture for you.  We also have the facility to create a DVD or AVI slideshow of your favourite photographs with music you provide.

OK, so you know my love of taking a photograph of pretty much anything - what do I not like?  Peanut butter, Marmite (although I like the by-product) and writing about myself...

The most important things to know?  The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything is 42, and I like my coffee black with 1 sugar thanks.

About Us
My name is James Turner, and originally came from a small mining village called Chasetown (famous for St Annes Church which was first church in the world to be lit by electricity).  I now live in Hednesford in England which is luckily on the edge of Cannock Chase with my fiancée Claire and Dippy dog.

History
I started photography when I was still at school - I started with a Ricoh KR10 35mm film SLR (Still in the loft!) with a fixed 50mm lens.  This served  me very well, and I learned all the settings etc on this camera.  I then obtained my first digital camera - a Ricoh Dc-4 1.3 MegaPixel unit, and it stored the photos on SmartMedia cards(up to a 8Mb card size!).  No more waiting for a week for the local chemist to develop a 35mm film, although the quality from the 35mm print was far better.  Next was a Canon Ixus 300 2 MegaPixel camera.  This lasted a long time, and the quality of the photos was far higher - a sample from this is below just to show that you do not super high MegaPixels to get a great picture - just a good eye.  This was upgraded to an Olympus 750UZ - with a massive 10x Optical Zoom, and 4 MegaPixels. A major bonus was this used 4x AA cells which could be easily replaced. Canon then launched the camera that changed the Amateur Photography world - the EOS 300d.  I waited until the 350d (mainly due to having to save the money to buy it!).  This was quickly replaced by the EOS 400d when it was launched.  The Canon 40d then followed, and I liked the weatherproof seals, and Magnesium Alloy body.  This is now the camera I use, and 21,000 shutter activations later, is still going strong.  Along with my standard 24-105mm F4L lens, this is still capable of capturing amazing images. I don't intend to change from the Canon EOS 40d for a very long time yet as it does everything I require from it, and I know exactly how to use it.
Barmouth at Sunset - this was taken with a 2 MegaPixel camera It  is not  what equipment you  have - it is how you use it

What is “Bostin”???  The definition of Bostin is “brilliant; fantastic; excellent; derived from the Anglo-Saxon 'bosten', meaning ‘something to boast about' and now used almost exclusively in the Black Country area of the UK.”
